Consciousness: The Brain, States of Awareness, and Alternate Realities

Goleman, Daniel, & Davidson, Richard J. (Eds.)

This is a compilation of 47 selections taken from books and periodicals that have been edited so that little background in psychology is needed to understand them. There are four parts, each with a different focus on consciousness: Brain Function and Consciousness, Psychological Processes that Shape Awareness, Altered States, and the Politics of Consciousness. The compilers, both psychologists, intend it to be "a sourcebook on the psychology of consciousness." Each part and subsection have introductions that discuss its background and scope and provide guidelines for reading the text.
