On the Track of the Poltergeist (Foreword by W.G. Roll)

Rogo, D. Scott

This book is largely an autobiographical account and documents Rogo’s investigations of poltergeist cases. He also attempts to provide a critical reevaluation of how poltergeists are viewed. He concludes that "different poltergeist cases have different etiologies" (p. xiv). In addition to poltergeist cases, he has included cases that on the surface appear to be typical haunts but which, upon investigation, have often turned out to be caused by `hidden’ or `camouflaged’ poltergeists.... No ghosts nor outside agencies were involved" (p. xiv). Finally, he attempts to educate the reader as to how to respond when confronted with a poltergeist outbreak. In the last chapter he presents some formal guidelines for carrying out field investigations. There are two appendices. One is an historical note on epilepsy and the poltergeist and the other is on some out-of-body poltergeists.
