Between Heaven and Earth: A Guide to Chinese Medicine

 The authors provide a thorough overview of Chinese medicine. Section I, Theory, consists of the first two chapters contrasting Chinese medicine with Western. A chapter is devoted to the philosophy of Chinese medicine, another to basic concepts such as qi and ; Diagnosis, the five-phase theory of evolutionary stages of transformation. Section Two, Types, has chapters on the five-phase archetypes, and then chapters devoted to each archetype: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. The last section, Therapy, consists of three chapters on Acupuncture, herbology and Chinese patent medicines, and "Culinary Alchemy: Herbal Food, Kitchen Medicine." A "Response Guide" Finding Practitioners and Chinese Herbs" is included. There also are several Self-Assessment Questionnaires.
