Coming From the Light

Hinze, Sarah

The author, who in 1992 was named Arizona Homemaker of the Year in 1992, had two "announcing" experiences in connection with two of the nine children she bore (she also has nine foster daughters, and provides a home for a Laotian family of eight). She then learned that some NDEers had encountered people who were "waiting to be born." She set out to collect accounts of "life before life" or prebirth or prewomb contacts with one’s future children before they were conceived. She presents 32 cases. In some, the children had been born to the same parents in their life but had died and then returned. In several, the child to be born intervenes to aid future siblings various types of exceptional experience. Reading examples of the different kinds of prebirth experiences (PBEs) is engrossing. The book is capped off by an afterword written by the author’s husband, Brent Hinze, Ph.D. entitled "A Comparison of the NDE and the PBE." It is a very useful survey of what the Hinzes have learned about PBEs from their case collection, reading, and discussions with others. He compares PBE research to NDE research. He analyzed the 57 PBEs presented in the book according to when they occur, to whom, where, types of PBEs, and 10 aspects of a "typical" PBE. [Persons interested in these experiences should also see the articles by Danna in EHE News, 5[2] 1998 and 6[1] 1999.]
