Haunted England: Royal Spirits, Castle Ghosts; Phantom Coaches, & Wailing Ghouls

Whitaker, Terence

A British broadcaster and writer, Whitaker spent 30 years researching more than a thousand British haunted sites. Many of these are described in 11 chapters, each of which covers a particular theme: haunted castles; grey or white ladies; dark, mysterious men; gallery ghosts; screaming skulls; ghostly monks; phantom nuns; haunted inns and public houses; ghosts of the roads and highways; spectral traveling companions; and theater ghosts. There is a useful index of person's names and places associated with the haunts described.
