Far Journeys

Monroe, Robert A.

Monroe has written a sequel to his oft-cited Journeys Out of the Body. It is a popular account of his out-of-body explorations and of his attempts to develop a technique for inducing relaxation and sleep using audio pulses and a similar method to synchronize the brain hemispheres ("Hem-sync"). This became known as the Gateway program because it provided the person with access to another state of consciousness. This led to the Explorer program, in which participants, when in the OBE state, explored beyond the solar system, sometimes meeting and communicating with intelligent entities. The major part of the book consists of transcripts of these explorations. The result is a modern analogue of what once was known as "spirit teachings." Its primary interest lies in that it is written by Monroe.
